Sometimes a good thing comes along but only lasts a moment in time. From 2000 to 2003 Man Alive! excited crowds up and down the East coast with their infectious dance music and powerful ballads. Blending the sounds of old time string band, delta blues, bluegrass and even rock and roll Man Alive! brought the traditional sounds of the North Carolina mountains and foothills to a wide range of music lovers.

The band consisted of Joe Thrift, talented fiddler, composer and member of the legendary old-time band ,The Red Hots, he also performed for nine years as the keyboard player in the popular roots rock band, Donna The Buffalo. Bill and Nancy Sluys, bass and fiddle/banjo respectively, are currently playing in the award winning string band, The Pilot Mountain Bobcats. Nancy has also won numerous prizes at fiddler's conventions, including first place on banjo at Galax and Mount Airy, as well as placing at Clifftop. Well known, prize winning bass player, Bill, was also the technical wizard behind Man Alive! David Long, guitar, known in North Carolina as a powerful singer and solo performer, has played many styles of music including bluegrass, blues and old time. David was an original member of the old time band The Freight Hoppers.

Bringing all these influences to the table Man Alive! recorded one self produced CD that is sought after by lovers of American roots music. Check it out in the Bobville Store>>>
